Last week we were told to create our first media production presentation. And the title of this presentation was media in Norfolk, and this included 3 different media companies based in Norfolk.

These companies were: Mustard TV, EDP and BBC Radio Norfolk

In this we included information, facts and stats of each of these companies.

Below you can find my completed Presentation.

CCN media radio advert

Today we were given the task in groups to create a radio advert for CCN's use of media. due to technical difficulties we were not able to present our work to the class and get it recorded. So i will do a write up of it now.

Our first step was to write a script:

"City College Norwich doesn't just teach media, they use it. With their many dedicated social media sites, hotline and E-mail address. you are always only a few seconds away from CCN... City College Norwich.
For more information call now on 01603 773311"

We as a class had to aim for the ad to last 20-30 second, ours lasted 20 seconds.

The next step was to have some background music for our ad, my group aimed for a relaxed but up beat tune. Below is link to the music we used.

We also used Foley sound (sound used from objects, such as breaking lettuce to simulate the sound of breaking bones) which in our radio advert were the sound of a computer mouse clicking, keys on a keyboard being pushed and the sound of a phone dealing and calling a number.

video edit

Today we as individual class mates were given the same piece of video. a wildlife video. The video included many animals, but the task was to end up with a custom edited video of this piece containing only the birds from the video.

I really enjoyed this particular task. As it were something I would have hoped to be doing in this media course.

When we were told our task for today was to edit I wasn't very confident as I hadn't done anything like it before. But after a while I soon grasped the ability to make a short edit.

Below you can find a glimpse of my edited video "Birds Of The Wild".

Media Production Video

Above you will find the link to my first video of my media course.

The roles i played in the video were: Cameraman no.2
                                                          Narrator

What went wrong? When we watched our recording back we noticed a flashing red glitch would occur on the screen, so that definitely lowered the standard of the video.
Another issue was not having a sturdy support system for our camera which would of given the video a more professional touch.

If i was to do the same project again the one thing i would add would be a tri-pod as during the video you will notice some sway and the use of a trip-pod would make the video a lot better quality and standard.

In this post i will be explaining how and what i learnt today...

Digital Curation
Digital curation involves maintaining, preserving and adding value to digital research data throughout its lifecycle.
The active management of research data reduces threats to their long-term research value and mitigates the risk of digital obsolescence. Meanwhile, curated data in trusted digital repositories may be shared among the wider UK research community.
As well as reducing duplication of effort in research data creation, curation enhances the long-term value of existing data by making it available for further high quality research.

Good examples of Digital Curation in use would be Youtubers using different sources of information or entertaintment or so on to validate what they are sharing.
